The Larches
Indie Punk Band
The Larches are a band formed in late 2021, but have been playing as a five piece ever since early 2023. It was formed by Alfie Murphy (bass) and George Moss (drums), playing covers of bands they both enjoyed in Murphy's garage. They introduced Jack Gardener (lead guitar) to the band in summer 2022, later meeting Noah Annandale (vocals) and Joel Hardwick (rhythm guitar) at a local music event in early 2023. In October 2023, their first single, 'You Don't Care' was released to streaming services, one of their first original pieces - drawing influence from Arctic Monkeys and other bands of similar genres. They have experimented with many different subgenres of rock, but moving forward they are looking to play a unique sound, taking influences from Fontaines D.C's shoegaze, Acid Bath's sludge and Black Flag's punk. Whilst all members have a unique playing style, overall songwriting influences can also be named as (previously unmentioned): Kyuss, Korn, Queens of the Stone Age, Pantera, The Strokes, Mastodon, Deftones, Alice in Chains and Down. Their first EP, titled 'The Larches' was released in February 2024.
